Job summary

Modigent is seeking a Service Retrofit Start Up Technician II to work with greater independence on commercial HVAC retrofit and system startup, handling routine to moderately complex installations, repairs, testing, and commissioning across office buildings, hospitals, schools, retail spaces, and industrial facilities.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of hands-on commercial HVAC service, startup, retrofit, and maintenance experience.
• EPA Section 608 certification (Type II or Universal) required; NATE and OSHA credentials a plus.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform preventive maintenance, inspections, basic startups, and repairs on DX split systems and RTUs.
• Assist with and lead portions of installations/retrofits: brazing copper lines, component replacement, charging, evacuation, testing.
• Conduct system checks, leak detection, and basic balancing to verify performance.
• Lead startup/retrofit calls: communicate with customers, coordinate parts, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Document work orders, photos, checklists, and recommendations for billing and quality tracking.
• Mentor Level I technicians and assist senior technicians on complex retrofits; uphold safety practices.
