Job summary

Malama is expanding its doula provider network in Minnesota, seeking experienced birth doulas to support Medicaid members. Doulas operate as independent providers with Malama handling enrollment, credentialing, billing, and payment.

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity; it is not a W-2 position. Roles include providing prenatal, labor, and postpartum support, with flexible practice and paid on a regular schedule based on reimbursable services.

Qualifications

• Experienced birth doula practicing in Minnesota.
• Approved for the Minnesota Doula Registry, or eligible and willing to complete the registration process.
• Willing to complete applicable Minnesota Medicaid and health-plan enrollment and credentialing requirements.
• Experience providing prenatal, labor/birth, and postpartum support.
• Be a bridge: positive, empathetic, and open to feedback to improve.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-clinical prenatal, labor/birth, and postpartum doula support.
• Provide culturally responsive emotional, informational, and physical support aligned with member preferences.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of services.
• Follow privacy, documentation, quality, and payer requirements.
• Coordinate with Malama’s care team when issues exceed doula scope.
