Job summary

Brooklyn Center Community Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant for Brooklyn Center Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. The SEA supports inclusionary classrooms, assists teachers with individual students or small groups, and helps implement our educational programs.

The role requires an Associates Degree or 60 credits and paraprofessional experience; a paraprofessional exam may meet requirements. 185 duty days, 6.5 hours/day, $20.47–$25.69/hour.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 60 credits; paraprofessional exam may meet requirements.
• Experience as educational assistant or paraprofessional preferred.
• Passing paraprofessional exam may meet minimum requirements per district site.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with instructional activities and mobility.
• Establish positive relationships and model appropriate behavior.
• Adapt activities under supervision to support objectives.
• Support student behavior and safety across environments.
• Review IEP goals and collect data for compliance.
• Distribute materials and monitor use of equipment.
