Job summary

Brooklyn Center Community Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant (SEA) at Brooklyn Center Secondary for the 2026-2027 school year. The SEA assists with implementing a comprehensive educational program, supports classroom teachers, and works with individual students or small groups to reinforce objectives.

Requirements include an Associates Degree or 60 credits, and experience as an educational or paraprofessional assistant (a paraprofessional exam may meet the minimum).

Qualifications

Associates Degree or 60 credits under graduate level.
Experience working as an educational or teacher's assistant, paraprofessional, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A passing score on a paraprofessional exam will also meet the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

Assists students with instructional and non-instructional activities; supports engagement and daily routines.
Establishes positive relationships and models appropriate social skills.
Adapts activities and materials under supervision to support objectives.
Helps staff with student behavior using proactive strategies.
Oversees and supervises students during the day including field trips and lunch.
