Job summary

The Penn Hills School District seeks a Paraprofessional for an inclusive 3-5 classroom at Penn Hills Elementary School. You will support students with special needs under certified professionals, assist with daily living activities, and help implement IEPs and behavioral plans.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate degree or 60 college credits, PA Credential of Competency for Special Paraeducator, and be prepared to obtain required clearances.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or equivalent number of college credits (60), or a score in the average or above average on the TABE and complete the Credential of Competency for Special Paraeducator in Pennsylvania.
• One to two years of experience with children with special needs preferred.
• Crisis intervention, CPR and First Aid training preferred.
• Ability to work as part of the educational team.
• Strong communication skills in oral and written form.

Responsibilities

• Assist children to and from the bus at arrival and departure times.
• Provide personal care services as needed for activities of daily living.
• Prepare and operate instructional equipment and materials as directed by the teacher/therapist.
• Maintain attendance records and data collection under direction, handling confidentiality.
• Assist with feeding of students and supervise cafeteria as needed.
• Assist students with teaching devices and assistive technology used for instruction.
• Participate in parent/teacher and IEP conferences.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, field trips, and drills.
