Job summary

Penn Hills School District in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh is seeking Paraprofessional(s) for an intensive support 6-8 classroom. Reports to Director of Special Education and Building Principals.

This role involves assisting with instructional and non-instructional duties under certified supervision, including field trips and IEP compliance. Ideal candidates hold an Associate degree or 60 college credits with PA credentialing, and have 1–2 years of special needs experience.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 60 college credits or TABE average with PA Credential of Competency.
• 1–2 years of experience with children with special needs preferred.
• CPR and First Aid training preferred.
• Ability to work as part of an educational team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
• Excellent organizational and logistic skills.
• Customer service mindset and flexibility.
• Familiarity with IEP goals and educational directives.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and student management systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist children to and from the bus at arrival and departure.
• Provide personal care assistance as needed for daily living activities.
• Prepare and operate instructional equipment and materials as directed.
• Follow emergency procedures and notify supervisor immediately.
• Maintain classroom housekeeping and health guidelines.
• Update attendance and data while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist with feeding and cafeteria supervision as needed.
• Support use of teaching devices and assistive technologies.
• Participate in parent/teacher and IEP conferences.
• Supervise students during activities and field trips under supervision.
• Reinforce instructional activities per plan and assist with behavioral management.
