Job summary

South Hills Middle School seeks a dedicated SPED Paraprofessional to support students with special needs and foster an inclusive classroom. The role involves assisting with IEPs, providing targeted student support, and tracking progress in collaboration with teachers and staff.

You will help develop daily living skills, promote independence, and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional strategies for diverse learners. The position is full-time and school-based.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of SPED practices, IEPs, and behavioral management strategies.
• Experience with children with special needs in an educational setting is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with students, teachers, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with implementing IEPs for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during classroom activities.
• Monitor and document students' progress, behaviors, and needs; provide feedback to staff.
• Support students with daily living skills and promote independence.
• Collaborate with SPED and general education staff to adapt instructional materials.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to ensure a cohesive support system.
• Assist in behavioral intervention plans and strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills.
• Participate in training and professional development to enhance SPED skills.
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or district administration.
