Job summary

The Penn Hills School District is seeking a Paraprofessional for an intensive AS K-2 classroom. You will support students with special needs, assist with daily living activities, and help implement IEP plans under the supervision of a certified professional.

Requirements include an Associate degree or 60 college credits or PA credentialing pathways, plus CPR/First Aid training. Prior experience with special needs and strong communication are preferred; ability to use Office software and student

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 60 college credits or TABE score sufficient for Credential of Competency for Special Paraeducator in PA.
• One to two years of experience with children with special needs preferred.
• Training in crisis intervention, CPR and First Aid preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to and from bus at arrival and departure.
• Provide personal care assistance as needed for daily living activities.
• Prepare and operate instructional materials and equipment as directed by teachers/therapists.
• Notify supervisor promptly in emergencies and maintain classroom safety and health guidelines.
• Support data collection and attendance records while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist with feeding and supervision in cafeteria as needed.
• Support use of teaching devices and assistive technology for individualized instruction.
• Participate in IEP/parent-teacher conferences as requested.
• Assist with field trips and community-based instruction under supervision.
