Job summary

Glenwood seeks a Creative Arts Manager to lead arts-based programming for individuals with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities in the Avondale-Birmingham area. You will develop and implement curricula, teach arts activities, and coordinate with partners to deliver inclusive, engaging experiences.

You will supervise volunteers, track outcomes, assist with funding proposals, and participate in community outreach to expand impact.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Music, Education, Special Education, Recreational Therapy, or related field.
Experience leading creative arts, educational, recreational, or therapeutic programs.
Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
Passion for supporting individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Develops and oversees creative arts activities tailored to participants with disabilities.
Develops curricula that are evidence-informed and developmentally appropriate.
Provides direct instruction in art, music, movement, or other creative activities 8–10 hours per week.
Coordinates classes and activities with artists, volunteers, and community partners.
Collaborates with clinical, educational, and residential teams to integrate arts into support plans.
Creates inclusive opportunities that promote skill development and confidence.
Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers and interns.
Completes required reports and outcome tracking.
Assists with grant proposals and funding requests for arts initiatives.
Participates in community outreach and develops partnerships.
