Job summary

ACCEL Schools in Canton, Ohio is seeking an Intervention Specialist to support students with IEPs in EK-8 settings at Canton College Preparatory School and Wright Preparatory Academy. You will collaborate with teachers, assess needs, and implement behavior and instructional plans to help every student succeed.

The role emphasizes inclusive practices, data-driven instruction, and strong family communication.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in full room inclusion or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model.
• Comfort with growth-focused coaching based on observations and progress monitoring.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Excellent organization and time management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks.
• Experience in a multi-cultural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to interpret abilities and disabilities and adjust interventions.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments.
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write goals and objectives.
• Work toward student achievement and culture goals.
• Use research-based daily planning and instruction.
• Apply culturally responsive teaching practices in daily lessons.
• Serve as advisor to a designated set of students.
• Regularly communicate with families about academic and social-emotional growth.
• Support planning and participation in non-instructional activities.
