Job summary

PFG Manufacturing, located in Illinois, is seeking a Logistics Assistant to support the Logistics Manager in daily inbound operations. You will help control inbound freight costs, ensure timely deliveries, and protect the company’s bottom line through effective freight management.

The role emphasizes data accuracy, issue resolution with carriers and vendors, and collaboration with Accounting to file chargebacks and optimize loads.

Qualifications

• Required Education: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
• Required Experience: 6 - 12 Months in logistics/transport administrative support
• Experience negotiating freight costs and inbound freight management

Responsibilities

• Work with Logistics Manager to negotiate lowest freight costs without reducing service level.
• Generate period-end revenue report.
• Identify backhaul pickups that do not meet the minimum requirement for revenue.
• Identify loads to be moved by contract carriage and schedule such move.
• Monitor accepted loads and verify that the loads were delivered on time.
• Audit carriers’ freight bills to insure they agree with carriers’ confirmations.
• Coordinate with Accounting to file vendor charge-backs to orders with volumes that have been confirmed but not shipped by managed vendor.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
