Job summary

Nordstrom in Newport Beach is seeking a part-time Sales Associate to provide friendly service, process transactions, assist with returns and order pickup, and mentor new hires on the register.

The role emphasizes building relationships, training colleagues, and maintaining accurate ticketing while ensuring security and privacy of customer information. Evening and weekend hours are required in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to build relationships with customers, peers, and leaders.
• Proficiency in multiple operating systems such as MS Windows, iOS and Android.
• Clear, effective communication and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to train and deliver POS/register training to support onboarding of new hires.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
• Physical Requirements: Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing and reaching to handle merchandise and assist customers.
• Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.

Responsibilities

• Deliver seamless, friendly service by understanding customer needs and owning interactions from start to finish, whether resolving returns and exchanges, or supporting order and pickup inquiries.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer concerns with empathy, sound judgment, and a solutions-focused approach.
• Accurately process transactions and ticketing using POS and store systems to support inventory accuracy.
• Build relationships with teammates and contribute to a positive, team-focused environment.
• Protect the security and privacy of customer information through education, compliance and resolution of issues.
• Promote initiatives such as the Nordstrom Loyalty program, along with new tools, software, and services that enhance the customer and employee experience.
• Hours vary based on business needs, including evenings and weekends.
