Job summary

Red Rabbit is hiring a Chef, In-School to join our team in diverse DC-area school kitchens. You will prepare scratch-made, culturally relevant meals for hundreds of students daily, lead with cooking expertise, and ensure top-notch food safety and service.

This on-site role features stable weekday hours, with holidays off and a strong emphasis on nutrition and community impact. You’ll collaborate with a small team, manage prep and service tasks, and contribute to menus that reflect students’

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional culinary experience in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Strong hands-on cooking skills and ability to follow recipes for consistent meals.
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices.
• Organizational skills to manage prep and service tasks in a busy kitchen.
• Excellent communication and reliability; able to work with a team.
• Willingness to obtain required local food safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Culinary execution: contribute to culturally relevant menus and prepare dishes.
• Food safety & sanitation: maintain a safe kitchen and document logs.
• Meal presentation & service: ensure meals look and taste great and are served on time.
• School community: engage with students and staff professionally.
• Kitchen organization: track ingredients, inventory, and daily reports.
