Job summary

SiSTEM is seeking experienced tutors to support K-12 students in the Fulshear/Richmond area in person. Tutors will work one-on-one and in person to build deep understanding, stronger study strategies, and confidence across core subjects.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of teaching or tutoring, subject-area expertise, and the ability to meet families face-to-face. Flexible scheduling and the freedom to set your own rates are offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience.
• Deep expertise in at least one subject and grade band listed above.
• Reliable transportation and ability to meet students in person in the [CITY/REGION] area.
• Experience with honors, Pre-AP, AP, IB, gifted, dual credit, or test prep settings.
• Proven track record of helping students improve grades or master concepts.
• Clear, patient communication and the ability to make a subject click for students who think they are not a math person or not a writer.
• Professional reliability.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one and in person with students in grades K-12 in your subject areas.
• Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just finish homework.
• Build the study habits, problem-solving strategies, and confidence that carry across subjects.
• Identify and close gaps in foundational skills that are holding students back.
• Align your sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
• Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
• Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.
