Job summary

SiSTEM is seeking experienced tutors to work in person with motivated students in the Tomball/Magnolia area. In-person availability is required, with sessions at homes, libraries, schools, or your own location.

You will help students develop deep understanding, build strong study habits, and gain confidence across K-12 subjects, with tailored tutoring and ongoing family communication.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience.
• Deep expertise in at least one subject and grade band listed above.
• Reliable transportation and in-person availability in the Tomball/Magnolia area.
• Experience with honors, Pre-AP, AP, IB, gifted, dual credit, or test prep settings.
• Clear, patient communication and ability to make concepts click for students.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one and in person with students in grades K-12 in your subject areas.
• Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just finish homework.
• Build the study habits, problem-solving strategies, and confidence that carry across subjects.
• Identify and close gaps in foundational skills that are holding students back.
• Align sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
• Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
• Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.
