Job summary

H&R Block in Tacoma, WA seeks a year-round Block Advisor (Tax Advisor). You will prepare complete, accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses, conduct in-depth client interviews, and deliver personalized recommendations to help clients maximize tax savings.

Qualifications

Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
Experience preparing complex individual returns and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
High school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications; provide clear, personalized recommendations.
Build year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products.
Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
