Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor to prepare complete and accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex situations, including individual and business returns.

The role involves in-depth client interviews, personalized recommendations, building year-round client relationships, and providing IRS support as needed. In-person at a local Block Advisors office, with an incentive plan rewarding impact.

Qualifications

• Completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or enrollment in assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns, including planning, audit support, and resolution of notices.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex situations (individual and business).
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand finances and life changes; provide personalized recommendations.
• Build year-round client relationships; identify tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products/services.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
