Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor to prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex situations, including individuals and small businesses.

You will interview clients, offer personalized recommendations, build long-term relationships, provide IRS guidance when needed, and collaborate with a team in a local office; in return you’ll receive leading training, a competitive hourly rate, and a rewards plan.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping is preferred
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS and state requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations
• Build trusted, year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant Block Advisors products and services
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment
