Job summary

The Lawrenceville School seeks a Math Specialist to provide in-person, individualized support for students facing challenges in foundational math, aligned with the school’s curriculum. This role emphasizes on-campus engagement with students, faculty, and academic advisors.

The position follows the academic calendar with around 10 hours per week and a flexible schedule including afternoons and evenings. Collaboration with Educational Support is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably a Master’s) in Mathematics, Special Education, or a related field.
• Experience with math instruction and supporting students with learning differences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google GSuite; comfortable using school systems to document work.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; able to manage ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person individual and/or group instruction toGeometry, Algebra 1/2, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus.
• Conduct on-campus meetings to assess students’ needs with real-time interaction.
• Generate appropriate remedial assistance and personalized strategies.
• Develop self-awareness, self-advocacy and learning strategies.
• Implement interventions to address math challenges.
• Monitor and report student progress weekly to the student, advisor, and Director.
• Foster a positive, engaging in-person learning environment.
• Attend on-campus meetings and trainings to stay updated on best practices.
• Teach and monitor math skills aligned with Lawrenceville curriculum.
• Perform other duties as requested.
