Job summary

The Community Builders is seeking a Service Maintenance Manager in Boston to lead maintenance teams, oversee preventive work orders and unit turns, and ensure quality across community operations.

You will manage vendors, train staff, and ensure safety compliance while supporting REAC/HQS readiness and budget goals through hands-on leadership and strong communication. This five-day-in-office role requires proactive collaboration with property teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of multi-family operational management experience.
• Experience in training, budget development and managing expenses; bid and managing vendors, service and general building contractors are essential skills.
• One or more industry certifications (NAHMS, CAMT, OSHA, HVAC) required.
• Willingness to get any required certification(s) within 6 months of hiring to meet site/area needs.
• Knowledge of all hand and power tools, cleaning supplies, and protective equipment.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, guidance, and supervision to maintenance team members and vendors/contractors at the community.
• Manage and participate in routine and preventive maintenance work orders and unit turns, including scheduling vendor contracted services.
• Provide training to maintenance team to ensure proper performance and safety.
• Oversee cleaning, painting, interior/exterior decorating, landscaping, and other repairs.
• Prepare and repair for REAC/HQS inspections and audits.
• Participate in financial review on maintenance and capital expenditures to meet budget goals.
• Complete budgeted capital improvements and manage vendor service contracts.
• Maintain maintenance shop and inventory with a safety mindset.
