Job summary

Gulf of Maine Research Institute in Portland, ME, is hiring an IT Support Technician to maintain our IT infrastructure, support staff, and manage AV systems for interactive learning experiences. The role requires onsite presence in Portland, Maine, with no remote work option.

The successful candidate will diagnose hardware and software issues, deploy new software, and collaborate with vendors under the Director of IT & Facilities. Strong multitasking and customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

GMRI seeks candidates with strong multi-tasking ability, customer service experience, and problem-solving skills with quick prioritization.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
Familiarity with office software; interest in marine education and research.

Responsibilities

Serve as initial technical contact via Zoom, email, Slack, and in-person interactions.
Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues; ensure minimal end-user disruption.
Roll out and integrate new software; create training plans for staff.
Collaborate with external vendors to improve IT infrastructure and AV systems.
Provide training sessions to staff; support hardware deployment and AV systems.
Train staff on IT systems; support first and second level IT tasks and onboarding/offboarding processes.
Maintain and secure endpoint devices; manage door security and policy compliance.
