Job summary

Illinois Education Association in Springfield, IL is seeking a Computer Services Paraprofessional to support our in-office computer services program. You will assist with tracking and configuring IEA computers, provide help desk support, and help resolve hardware issues in field offices.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or college coursework with focus on computers desirable.
• Above average typing, spelling, composition, and math skills.
• Capable of efficiently handling telephone and electronic requests.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Knowledge of basic office accounting functions.
• Extensive knowledge of computer technology including Windows, Office, and Teams.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to travel throughout the state.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assists professional staff in tracking and configuring IEA computers.
• Provides support and resolves help desk problems for users.
• Assists with resolving hardware issues in field offices as needed.
• Assists with software installation and updates as needed.
• Assists in gathering information/research on cybersecurity issues for IEA plan design.
• Gathers information and conducts independent research on trends of recurring problems for disaster recovery plans.
• Assesses computer hardware failures and participates in hardware training to streamline warranty replacements.
• Coordinates removal and installation of office copiers and tracks contracts for signature.
• Assists in providing technical support for virtual and in-person meetings/events.
• Maintains IEA license lists for virtual platforms as needed.
• Demonstrates commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Works independently and as part of a team to accomplish duties.
• Assists in planning and promotion of IEA programs, initiatives and policies.
• Gathers, organizes and submits data for program implementation and maintenance.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
