Job summary

First American is seeking an Associate Counsel to provide in-house legal and regulatory advice on mortgage servicing documentation and regulatory compliance. You will draft contracts, policies, and product forms, and interface with regulators as needed.

You will research federal and state mortgage servicing laws, review documents for accuracy, and collaborate with operations, product, technology, and compliance teams to implement regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• Law degree required and admitted to practice law in the US.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in mortgage servicing/regulatory compliance.
• Experience with Regulation X/RESPA, Regulation Z/TILA.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into documentation and processes.
• Strong legal research and writing skills, with ability to work independently and with teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to mortgage servicing divisions and regulatory teams.
• Review and maintain mortgage servicing documents to ensure compliance.
• Research federal/state mortgage servicing laws and investor guidelines.
• Support product enhancements and regulatory changes with operations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve servicing questions.
