Job summary

First American is seeking an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal support on mortgage servicing documents and regulatory compliance. The role emphasizes interpretation of federal and state laws, drafting and reviewing servicing documents, and collaborating with internal teams to implement regulatory changes.

Requirements include a law degree, US bar admission, and 1–3 years of related experience.

Qualifications

Law degree required.
US bar admission to practice law.
1–3 years of professional experience in mortgage servicing/regulatory area.
Experience with mortgage servicing regulations, compliance, and documentation.
Familiarity with Regulation X (RESPA) and Regulation Z (TILA).

Responsibilities

Provide timely, high-quality legal counsel to divisions with focus on mortgage servicing documentation and regulatory compliance.
Research and interpret federal/state mortgage servicing laws and investor requirements.
Review and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on documents, systems, and processes.
Collaborate with operations, product, technology, and compliance teams on servicing documentation questions and regulatory changes.
Assist clients' legal and compliance contacts with mortgage servicing-related questions.
