Job summary

ACMH in New York City seeks a Peer Program Specialist (Scattered Site) to provide direct service to clients in their homes, teaching skills of daily living and supporting recovery goals in Manhattan. Schedule is 9:00am–5:00pm, Monday–Friday, reporting to the Program Director.

Lived experience with mental health, substance use, or homelessness services is required. NYCPS certification is preferred; a high school diploma or GED is expected.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with mental health, substance use or homelessness services.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Teaches skills for daily living including personal hygiene, laundry and apartment cleaning.
• Monitors apartment maintenance and reports issues to supervisor.
• Teaches budgeting, shopping, meal planning, preparation and cleanup.
• Teaches self-preservation and monitors safety and cleanliness of living units.
• Administers cooking safety test.
• Monitors and documents medication self-administration per policy.
• Reports incidents or behavioral changes to supervisor.
• Teaches travel skills and may escort clients.
• Facilitates or co-facilitates groups as requested.
• Documents services rendered and client progress timely.
• Assists in building self-advocacy to engage supports and treatment team.
• Supports recovery skill-building to decrease emergency services contact.
• Attends training and other duties as assigned.
