Job summary

ACMH, Inc. is seeking a Peer Program Specialist (Scattered Site) in Queens to provide direct in-home services, teaching daily living skills and supporting recovery goals. The role reports to the Program Director and runs Monday through Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm.

Lived experience with mental health or related services is required; NYCPS certification is preferred. The role offers full-time pay of about $49,192 plus generous benefits, with ACMH emphasizing equity and anti-racism in its culture.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with mental health, substance use, or homeless services.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Basic computer/data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Teaches skills for maintaining personal hygiene, laundry, and apartment cleaning.
• Monitors apartment maintenance and alerts supervisor of problems.
• Teaches budgeting, shopping, meal planning, and cleanup.
• Teaches self-preservation, monitors safety and cleanliness of living units.
• Administers the client cooking safety test.
• Monitors, documents, and teaches self-administration of medication per policy.
• Reports incidents or behavioral changes to supervisor.
• Teaches travel skills and escorts clients when needed.
• Facilitates or co-facilitates groups as requested.
• Documents services rendered and client progress in a timely manner.
• Assists in building self-advocacy and communicating with supports and treatment team.
• Supports recovery skill-building to decrease calls to emergency services
• Attends training and other duties as assigned.
