Job summary

ACMH Inc. Bronx, NY seeks a Peer Program Specialist, East 144th Street to provide direct services in clients' homes, teaching daily living skills and supporting recovery goals.

Lived experience with mental health, substance use or homelessness services is required; NYCPS certification is preferred. Schedule Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays (11:00am-7:00pm) with supervision by the Program Director.

Qualifications

• Lived experience as a consumer of mental health or related services is required.
• High School diploma or GED preferred; NYCPS certification preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Teaches skills for personal hygiene, laundry and apartment cleaning.
• Monitors apartment maintenance and reports issues to supervisor.
• Teaches budgeting, shopping, meal planning, preparation and cleanup.
• Teaches self-preservation; ensures safety and cleanliness of living units.
• Administers client cooking safety tests and medication self-administration as directed.
• Documents services and client progress; assists in building self-advocacy.
• Teaches travel skills; escorts clients when needed; facilitates groups.
