Job summary

ACMH is seeking a Peer Program Specialist based in Queens Village, NY, working Fridays through Mondays (9:00am-4:00pm) to provide home-based training in daily living skills. The role requires lived experience with mental health, substance use, or homeless services and involves teaching personal hygiene, budgeting, meals, safety, and medication self-management.

Certification in NYC Peer Program is preferred, with English communication skills and basic computer/data entry abilities.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience with mental health, substance use, or homeless services is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach daily living skills in clients' homes and provide training.
  • Monitor apartment maintenance and report issues to supervisor.
  • Teach budgeting, shopping, meal planning, and self-care skills.
  • Ensure client safety, cleanliness, and self-administration of medications.
  • Escort clients as needed and document progress in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate groups and support self-advocacy and recovery goals.
  • Attend trainings and carry out assigned duties by supervisory staff.

Education

NYCPS certification preferred
