Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families in Louisville, KY and Jeffersonville, IN. This mobile role offers professional autonomy, meaningful relationships, and time to practice veterinary medicine with intention in the home setting.

As part of a private, family-owned, doctor-led practice, you will provide in-home hospice, palliative care, QoL support, and compassionate euthanasia, guiding families with empathy and clinical judgment.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
• Hold or be eligible to obtain an active veterinary license in the states of service.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel to home visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, QoL support, and euthanasia.
• Travel independently to scheduled home visits in a mobile practice.
• Perform exams, assessments, medications, sedation, euthanasia within regulatory scope.
• Educate families through end-of-life decisions with empathy and clear communication.
• Maintain accurate veterinary records for each encounter.
• Communicate professionally with families, Heartstrings team, and referring veterinarians.
• Safely handle and assist with movement of companion animals during visits.
• Maintain professionalism, clinical independence, and reliability in the field.
• Demonstrate Heartstrings’ Compassion. Dignity. Respect. in every interaction.
