Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking an In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarian to serve families in Cleveland, Shaker Heights, Chagrin Falls, and surrounding areas. The role offers autonomy to practice compassionate end-of-life veterinary care in-home, away from traditional clinics.

Ideal candidates are DVMs with active licenses, comfortable with mobile practice, and able to travel to patient homes. Flexible scheduling and a focus on family-centered care are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Requires DVM/VMD or equivalent from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in applicable state(s).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel to home visits.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
• Comfortable working independently in a mobile veterinary setting.
• Willingness to participate in rotational weekend scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, QoL support, and euthanasia services.
• Travel to scheduled appointments in a mobile care environment.
• Perform exams, diagnoses, medications, sedation, euthanasia, and documentation.
• Guide families through QoL decisions and end-of-life options with empathy.
• Maintain accurate medical records and collaborate with Heartstrings team.
• Communicate professionally with families and referring veterinarians.
• Ensure safe handling of animals during home visits.
• Demonstrate professionalism and independence in the field.
