Job summary

Activ8 Recruitment & Solutions is seeking an Entry-Level Import Agent to join their operations team at the Springfield Gardens, NY office. This full-time onsite role supports international Air and Ocean Import coordination and general operations, with training provided.

Key responsibilities include tracking shipments, processing documentation, updating databases, and assisting customers and service providers. The position is contract-to-hire with Activ8 as the temporary employer.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree related to operations or supply chain or East Asian studies.
• Strong MS Excel skills and practical knowledge of MS Office.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Willingness to perform general operations tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Track and trace international shipments, monitoring and managing daily freight movement.
• Collect, sort and distribute operational information and process shipment documentation.
• Respond to customers and service providers with shipment statuses and financials.
• Update internal databases with freight information and current status.
• Collaborate with other departments/branches to support freight operations.
• Address issues and claims when shipment problems occur and assist with damage claims.
• Create invoices and forward originals to billing parties.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

A globally recognized freight forwarding company is seeking an Entry-Level Import Agent to join their operations team at their Springfield Gardens, NY office. This position is responsible for the activities and processes of international Air and Ocean Import coordination and for providing other general operations support as needed. Training is provided.

*This is a full-time, non-exempt, contracted, onsite position.

**Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:30pm

***This is a contract-to-hire role, with Activ8 serving as your temporary employer***

• Track and trace international shipments, monitoring and managing daily freight movement
• Collect, sort and distribute operational information internally and process documentation for shipment release
• Respond to customers and transportation service providers, providing them with information of shipment statuses (ETA, errors, etc.) and financials
• Update internal databases with freight information and current status
• Collaborate with and support other departments'/branches' freight operations as needed
• Address issues and claims when shipment errors/in-transit issues occur (e.g. troubleshooting discrepancies, processing damage claims, etc.)
• Create invoices and send originals to billing parties
• Additional duties as assigned
• Advanced Degree majoring in Business Operations, Supply Chain Management, East Asian Studies or similar
• Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel
• High attention to detail and comfortable handling tasks simultaneously
• Adaptable with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and deadline driven department
• This position will not support visa sponsorship or relocation expenses
• While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel paperwork and interact with a computer, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
