Job summary

YMCA of Southern Maine seeks a Child Watch Associate to supervise safe, age-appropriate experiences for children and families in the Prime-Time program under the Youth Development Director.

Responsibilities include organizing activities, monitoring health and safety, maintaining attendance, and supporting co-workers while upholding YMCA policies and brand guidelines. The role involves multiple Maine locations and offers training and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Experience with youth preferred.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification (YMCA will train).
• Criminal background check required prior to hire, paid by YMCA.
• Able to meet all physical requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

• Engage in activities consistent with the YMCA mission, goals and objectives.
• Be a positive role model for children with good work habits and attitude.
• Adhere to YMCA policies and safety rules.
• Monitor health and safety, maintain clean and safe program areas.
• Organize activities and routines for smooth transitions.
• Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
• Effectively manage challenging behaviors and report incidents.
• Assist children on arrival and support co-workers as needed.
• Attend childcare meetings and support branch programs.
• Promote YMCA brand guidelines and participate in campaigns.
