Job summary

The YMCA of Southern Maine seeks a Child Watch Associate to supervise safe, age-appropriate activities for children and families in the Prime-Time program, aligned with the YMCA’s core values. The role reports to the Youth Development Director and supports the branch’s mission.

Schedule is Monday–Friday 8:30–11:30 am with locations in Portland, Freeport, and Biddeford, Maine. The position requires reliability, basic CPR/First Aid certification, and the ability to monitor health and safety while

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth preferred.
• Detail oriented; reliable and punctual.
• CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certification (YMCA training).
• Criminal background check completed prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Engage in activities consistent with the YMCA mission and goals.
• Be a positive role model with good work habits and attitude.
• Adhere to YMCA policies and safety rules.
• Monitor health and safety of children and maintain a clean program area.
• Organize activities and routines for smooth transitions.
• Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
• Manage challenging behaviors effectively.
• Assist with cooperation for fill-in duties and attend meetings as directed.
