Job summary

YMCA of Southern Maine is seeking a Child Watch Associate to support safe, quality, age-appropriate experiences for children and families in Prime-Time programs. The role operates Monday through Friday mornings at YMCA locations in Portland, Freeport, and Biddeford, under the Youth Development Director.

The ideal candidate is 16+ years old, reliable, with youth experience and CPR/AED/First Aid certification. A background check is required, and YMCA training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Experience working with youth preferred.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
• Criminal background check required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Engages in activities consistent with the YMCA mission and goals.
• Acts as a positive role model for children and families.
• Adheres to YMCA policies and safety rules.
• Maintains safety of children and clean program areas.
• Organizes activities and routines for smooth transitions.
• Maintains accurate daily attendance records.
• Manages challenging behaviors and reports incidents to supervisor.
• Assists with arrivals and provides coverage for co-workers as needed.
• Attends childcare meetings and supports branch programs.
