Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Counsel to manage a caseload of predominantly low to moderate complexity, delivering high-quality, proactive litigation outcomes for insured customers. The role combines deep legal expertise with collaboration across claim partners and clients in a national-to-local service model.

You will handle cases from inception through trial and appeal, leveraging sophisticated research, writing, and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree.
• 2 years experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active license in good standing to practice law.
• Willingness to travel to hearings and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct legal research and demonstrate strong legal writing and presentation skills.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners on file handling strategies.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external client and business partner relationships.
• Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients.
• Fully and effectively utilize available technology and case management systems.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
