Job summary

The University of Scranton is seeking a Title IX & Civil Rights Investigator (Part Time) to conduct prompt, thorough investigations into discrimination, harassment, and retaliation involving students, faculty, and staff, ensuring compliance with Title IX, Title VII, the Clery Act, VAWA, and related laws.

The role is 18 hours per week, requires trauma-informed interviewing, meticulous reporting, and collaboration with the Title IX Coordinator to design trainings and promote a safe, inclusive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a field related to higher education administration, criminal justice, psychology, human resources, or similar.
• Experience conducting investigations, preferably in civil rights or Title IX in higher education.
• Strong analytical, writing, and interviewing skills with ability to synthesize data into clear reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct trauma-informed, impartial investigations into reports of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
• Develop investigative plans, interview parties and witnesses, gather and preserve evidence.
• Draft detailed investigative reports summarizing evidence, timelines, and statements for review.
• Maintain confidential case files in the department's record-keeping system.
• Provide regular updates to the Title IX Coordinator on case status and timelines.
• Collaborate on design and delivery of prevention, compliance, and awareness training for students, faculty, and staff.
• Stay current on evolving federal and state civil rights regulations and best practices.
• Engage with students to build trust and reduce barriers to reporting.
• Participate in campus wellness, equity, and safety initiatives.
• Serve as a resource for policy questions and reporting options.
