Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years in a medical office scheduling role.
• Experience in a surgical scheduling setting preferred.
• Pre-authorization and pre-certification experience required.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD codes and their use.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for surgery or specialty procedures.
• Coordinate with operating physician’s schedule and staff.
• Obtain necessary pre-authorizations for procedures.
• Prepare procedure orders and ensure chart accuracy.
• Confirm patient consents are in the chart before the day of procedures.
• Review pre-procedure checklists and required tests.
• Coordinate pre-op teaching, post-op appointments, and testing.
• Provide pre-procedure instructions to patients.
• Communicate changes or cancellations in schedule.
• Assist with scheduling physician office and meeting schedules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
