Job summary

UHS is seeking a qualified counselor to provide individual substance use disorder counseling to assigned patients in a fast-paced, in-person environment. The role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to develop and update treatment plans, conduct group sessions, and maintain compliant clinical documentation.

The ideal candidate holds a CADC and a relevant bachelor’s degree, with eligibility for certification as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an MCBAP-recognized discipline.
• Current CADC credential through MCBAP or eligibility to obtain the applicable certification within defined period after hire.
• Eligibility to obtain the applicable MCBAP development/limited certification status within a defined period after hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual substance use disorder counseling to assigned patients per assessed needs and individualized treatment/service plans.
• Facilitate SUD counseling groups, therapeutic groups, psychoeducational groups, and recovery-focused groups.
• Establish therapeutic relationships with patients using evidence-informed approaches and professional boundaries.
• Develop and update individualized treatment/service plans with patient and interdisciplinary team.
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation (notes, plans, progress notes, discharge records).
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient behavior and safety concerns; escalate per protocols.
• Adhere to policies on patient rights, grievances, mandated reporting, safety, infection prevention, and incident reporting.
