Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support K-2 students with significant disabilities in a self-contained classroom in Illinois. The contract role runs 8:00 AM–3:15 PM (35 hours/week) starting August 2026, with potential extension.

Virtual or in-person format will be determined to best serve the students. The candidate should hold a valid IL SPED license, have prior SPED classroom experience, strong IEP knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois SPED license.
• Experience teaching in a special education classroom, preferably self-contained settings.
• Strong understanding of IEPs and adapting instruction.
• Ability to work with paraprofessionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to each child’s learning goals.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom community.
• Collaborate with support staff to provide consistent instruction and care.
• Monitor student progress and communicate with families and team members.
• Support transitions of students into general education activities.
