Job summary

South Washington County Schools seeks a High Needs/Resource Special Ed Paraprofessional to assist in Woodbury Elementary School. The role supports students under a licensed teacher, with duties ranging from reading and math support to behavior management.

Starting pay is $22.70 per hour with an anticipated January 19, 2027 start. Work hours are 6.25 hours per day, 8:25 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Applications open 10/26/2026 and close 10/31/2026 or until filled.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to meet District 833 Highly Qualified requirements.
• Competencies as required by State of Minnesota, Federal government, and/or District 833.
• Ability to reinforce math, reading, and writing skills in elementary and/or secondary classrooms.
• Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds.
• Proven teamwork, confidentiality, and communication skills.
• Models appropriate behavior, neat appearance, and proper grammar usage for all students.
• Self-directed and able to organize small group reading and math activities with resources and assessments provided.

Responsibilities

• Consult daily with licensed special education teacher regarding daily responsibilities.
• Assist special education teacher in implementing district policies and procedures, including emergency procedures, building orientation, confidentiality, data collection, and classroom management.
• Assist students in academic areas such as reading, writing or math under the direction of a licensed teacher.
• Help students with daily living activities as needed.
• Support teacher in behavioral management techniques and document behavior.
• Collect and record student data per teacher directions and share with staff.
• Provide services to students as directed by licensed teacher with appropriate professional boundaries.
• Maintain confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
