Job summary

South Washington County Schools is seeking a High Needs/Resource Special Ed Paraprofessional for Woodbury Elementary School. The role provides instructional and behavioral support to students under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher. The position runs 6.25 hours daily from 8:25 a.m.

to 3:10 p.m., with a ½ hour unpaid lunch. Starting pay is $22.70 per hour, with potential to earn an additional $0.50 per hour after achieving Highly Qualified status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to meet District 833 Highly Qualified requirements.
• Competencies required by state and district.
• Ability to reinforce math, reading, and writing skills.
• Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds.
• Proven teamwork, confidentiality, and communication skills.
• Models professional conduct and supports a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Consult daily with licensed special education teacher on daily responsibilities.
• Assist teacher with district policies, emergency procedures, confidentiality, data collection, and class routines.
• Support students in reading, writing, and math under teacher direction.
• Assist students with daily living tasks (toileting, eating, transitions, seating, etc.).
• Accept shifting and new assignments as needed.
• Support behavior management, redirection, and monitoring of student behavior.
• Collect and document student data per teacher directions and share with staff.
• Provide services in a manner respecting roles of teacher, paraprofessional, and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
• Maintain fairness, respect, and equity for all students and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
