Job summary

Rochester Public Schools seeks a Special Education Educational Support Professional to assist students with IEPs at the school site under certified staff direction. Work calendar is 180 duty days and a 6.5-hour workday. Minimum qualifications include 60 college credits or a two-year degree (or completion of the Paraeducator Assessment).

Qualifications

• Must have 60 college credits or a two-year degree (or complete Paraeducator Assessments).
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with elementary age students is desired.
• Flexibility and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support and assist with IEP goals under licensed staff.
• Assist with behavior management and de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Support health-related needs and personal cares for students as needed.
• Collect data and report student progress to teachers and specialists.
• Observe and document student behaviors and progress toward goals.
• Supervise students in lunchroom, playground, field trips, and before/after school.
• Maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively with staff.
