Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Rochester Public Schools invites applications for a Special Education ESP paraeducator. The role supports students at the school site, implements IEPs under certified staff direction, and includes instructional support, behavior management, and data collection.

Qualifications

• 60 college credits and/or a two-year degree required.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Paraeducator Assessments available as an alternative.
• Experience with elementary age students.
• Computer skills preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team.

Responsibilities

• May report in person to a school building on an as-needed basis.
• Monitor and supervise students in lunchroom and playground in various weather.
• Follow Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
• Provide support to students with personal cares as needed.
• Work with students with different disabilities.
• Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors.
• Collect data on student progress for goals and objectives.
• Provide feedback on student progress to teachers and staff.
• Use iPads and devices to communicate with non-verbal students.
• Support de-escalation techniques; training provided as needed.
• Supervise students before, during, and after school hours.
• Move to meet students at their level.
• Provide support at meals, recess, and field trips.
• Model appropriate language and social behavior.
• Build relationships with diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Communicate effectively with all staff.
• Maintain good organizational skills and punctual attendance.
