Job summary

Rochester Public Schools is seeking a Special Education ESP to support students at the school site with needs eligible for special education services. Under direction of certified staff, you will assist with instructional support, behavior management, health tasks, data collection, and communicating progress.

This role may involve home visits, supervision in meals and recess, and collaboration with teachers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 60 college credits and/or a two-year degree; official transcripts required.
• In lieu of college credits or degree, Paraeducator Assessments with Minnesota passing scores.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with elementary age students is preferred.
• Flexibility and ability to work as a cooperative team member.
• Regular, on-time attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional and behavioral support under certified staff.
• Assist in health support and data collection for IEP goals.
• Monitor students in lunchroom and playground as needed.
• Support students with personal cares when required.
• Document student progress and communicate with teachers.
• Use iPads and devices for communication with non-verbal students.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Follow Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
• Supervise students before, during, and after school activities.
• Build relationships with diverse students and maintain data accuracy.
