Job summary

Lake County School District Region 1 in Colorado is seeking a substitute paraprofessional to support students with special needs under the direction of a SPED teacher. You will assist with lesson delivery, monitor progress toward IEP goals, and help maintain a positive classroom environment.

Responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons from provided curricula, reinforcing learning across settings, observing student performance, and supporting students during assessments when

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pass all required background checks and fingerprinting.
• Current Colorado substitute license (district reimburses).
• Familiarity with students with disabilities preferred.
• Familiarity with elementary education preferred.
• Bilingual preferred, but not required.
• Comfort with medical issues and interventions; remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students with special needs in SPED and general education settings.
• Plan and deliver lessons from provided curriculum under the SPED teacher, aligned with IEP goals.
• Maximize instructional time and manage materials and setup for daily activities.
• Observe and document student performance as requested and monitor progress toward goals.
• Support students on IEPs with accommodations during assessments when applicable.
• Reinforce learning across settings and assist teachers in maintaining the classroom environment.
• Model school-wide expectations and provide supervision and safety support as needed.
• Attend medical trainings with the school nurse and support students with medical concerns.
