Job summary

Lake County School District Region 1 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with various needs under the guidance of the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. The role focuses on providing emotional, behavioral, and instructional support and ensuring fidelity to IEP accommodations.

The position emphasizes teamwork, professional communication, and maintaining a positive learning environment across settings, with duties extending to cross-training in related tasks

Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certifications required within six months after hire.
• Familiarity with students with a variety of disabilities preferred.
• Bilingual preferred, but not required.
• Must pass all required background checks and fingerprinting.
• Must obtain a physical and TB test within 30 days after hire.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students with special needs in various settings.
• Implement and deliver teacher-created lessons per IEP goals.
• Interpret instruction and reinforce lessons across settings.
• Arrange and secure materials for daily activities.
• Observe and document student performance when requested.
• Monitor progress on goals per supervisor/IEP.
• Support students on IEPs with accommodations during assessments.
