Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Manufacturing in Huntsville, Alabama, is seeking a Surface Mount Assembly Technician to operate SMT equipment and assemble a variety of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs).

You will hand solder SMT and through-hole components, inspect under a microscope, read drawings, and follow work instructions while working both independently and as part of cross-functional teams on fast-paced production lines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and less than 1 year of experience.
• Ability to read drawings and follow work instructions
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours daily.
• Must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance
• Must be a resident of the Northern Alabama area or willing to relocate to the area.
• Surface Mount Technology experience or related electronics assembly experience
• Knowledge of SMT processes used to build Printed Circuit Board Assemblies
• Current or prior certification in IPC-A-610.
• Current or prior certification in J-STD-001.
• Experience on SMT equipment and hand soldering

Responsibilities

• Working knowledge of SMT machines such as: Stencil Printer, Solder Paste Inspection, Pick & Place machine, Reflow Oven, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), X-ray and hand soldering
• Understanding of different electronics packages such as 0402, 0603, BGA’s and how they are processed on a SMT line
• Experience working under a microscope
• Hand soldering SMT and Through-hole parts
• Works to achieve day-to-day objectives and have significant impact on the work output.
• Works independently under limited supervision
• Work in team environment and interacting with different functions, project teams and productions teams
