Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Surface Mount Assembly Technician to operate SMT equipment and hand solder components. You will work with 0402/0603 packages and BGA devices, often under a microscope, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The role requires reading drawings, following work instructions, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Residential relocation to Northern Alabama is expected if needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with less than 1 year of experience.
• Ability to read drawings and follow work instructions.
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours daily.
• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Resident of Northern Alabama or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Operate SMT equipment (Stencil Printer, Solder Paste Inspection, Pick & Place, Reflow, AOI, X-ray) and hand soldering.
• Understand electronics packages (0402, 0603, BGA) and SMT processing.
• Work under a microscope.
• Hand solder SMT and through-hole parts.
• Collaborate with teams to meet day-to-day objectives and work under limited supervision.

Leidos’ Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing is seeking a Surface Mount Assembly Technician to join our team that runs SMT equipment that produce a variety of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA’s).

Primary Responsiblities

• Working knowledge of SMT machines such as: Stencil Printer, Solder Paste Inspection, Pick & Place machine, Reflow Oven, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), X-ray and hand soldering
• Understanding of different electronics packages such as 0402, 0603, BGA’s and how they are processed on a SMT line
• Experience working under a microscope
• Hand soldering SMT and Through-hole parts
• Works to achieve day-to-day objectives and have significant impact on the work output.
• Works independently under limited supervision
• Work in team environment and interacting with different functions, project teams and productions teams

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and less than 1 year of experience.
• Ability to read drawings and follow work instructions
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours daily.
• Must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance
• Must be a resident of the Northern Alabama area or willing to relocate to the area.

Pre ferred Qualifications

• Surface Mount Technology experience or related electronics assembly experience
• Knowledge of SMT processes used to build Printed Circuit Board Assemblies
• Current or prior certification in IPC-A-610.
• Current or prior certification in J-STD-001.
• Experience on SMT equipment and hand soldering
