Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking an experienced, full-time School Social Worker to support a campus for the 2023-2024 school year. The role focuses on counseling, family engagement, and collaboration with school staff to promote student academic success.

The position involves conducting screenings and assessments, providing individual and group counseling, and serving on the IEP team to determine eligibility and programming needs. Strong community resource connections are also expected.

Qualifications

• Any combination equivalent to: graduation from an accredited college with a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field.
• Case management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between the school and the family.
• Confer with school personnel to bring information relating to the home.
• Assist school personnel in matters related to school attendance.
• Provide an effective working relationship with students, parents, school personnel, and others concerned with student welfare.
• Assist others in assessing the needs of students.
• Serve as a participant on the school's Child Study Committee, Eligibility Committee, and Crisis Intervention Team to assist in meeting the student's individual needs.
• Assist in the process of referring students and families to appropriate community resources.
• Consult with school personnel, parents, and other appropriate individuals to help increase the understanding of students and to help provide an atmosphere conducive to the student’s growth and development.
• Maintain appropriate case records and documentation.
