Job summary

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a School Resource Officer for the Macon RYDC in Macon, GA. This role involves maintaining security and order in a detention facility education setting, conducting classroom walkthroughs, and coordinating safety drills with staff and students.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and completion of Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training, with preference for undergraduate degrees and POST certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and successful completion of Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training.
• Undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Sociology or related field preferred.
• Two or more years of supervisory experience in law enforcement preferred.
• GA P.O.S.T. peace officer certification as part of eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Performs law enforcement duties to maintain security and order.
• Provide security clearance for students entering secure areas.
• Conduct classroom and facility walkthroughs and monitor security equipment.
• Address disruptive or absent students and coordinate safety drills.
• Assist in planning student meetings and coordinating parent meetings.
• Meet with supervisors and staff to enhance student involvement.
